St Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and it’s time for a yummy Easy Shamrock Shake. Because we are Irish, this recipe is a family tradition at our house. Similarly, our family loves the homemade whipped cream that only takes a few minutes to make. The full Shamrock Shake Recipe with home made whipped cream is at the bottom of this article.

Ice Cream

We start this recipe with a high quality vanilla ice cream. Therefore, your choice of ice cream will determine how creamy your shake is.

Blending the Ingredients

First of all, blending the ice cream, and milk together with a blender, makes quick work of a creamy Shamrock Shake. Go sparingly on the peppermint extract and food coloring. I suggest using half of what the recipe suggests, and then adding in more, if needed. If you are using peppermint oil instead of extract, one drop may be enough. It’s 4-6 times stronger than extract. You don’t want your shakes to be too strong. I’ve made that mistake in the past.

Homemade Whipped Cream

Making your own whipped cream is so easy and it will take your Shamrock Shake to the next level. There are only 3 ingredients to homemade whipped cream. Although this is a simple recipe, quality ingredients are important. Start by blending the heavy whipping cream, pure vanilla extract and confectioner’s sugar for up to five minutes.

Topping the Shamrock Shakes

Your Shamrock Shake will be yummy with the addition of a few toppings. Add a huge spoonful of whipped cream and then chocolate shaving sprinkles.
